It seems like last night’s new installment of In The Big House on Logo was action packed and nothing short of dramatic. Each episode has managed to get just a little bit better every time. As I’ll cover each piece of the show, I’ll make sure to catch everything!! There’s a lot to cover so sit down, strap in and here we go!!
Verdi Family Rules: The truth always comes out… so make sure you come out first.
At the very entrance of the show, everyone is laying in bed discussing a visit Louis made to Joey’s apartment to drop some stuff off. As they are talking, Big Lou tells Louis that his feet smell. Next thing you know, everyone is jumping on Lou’s case about his feet. “Yours smell like cheese,” says Michel. As Big Lou takes off his shoes, it apparently reveals an odor in the room. Jay hides his face under a pillow as Louis tells his dad, “It smells like pizza.” WAIT!! Wouldn’t that be a tasty, good thing tho!? Just sayin!! As Dotsie and Michel are making faces about the stench, Louis tells his dad, “Wash your feet with bleach or something.” I love this family!!

Next, we see the family sitting down to eat what looks like a delicious lunch. Fish and Steak, Whole Ears of Corn and WAIT A MINUTE!! Is that a margarita!? I see that glass with a clear-ish like fluid and a lime wedge for ganish. Oooo, now I’m thirsty!! Anyway, Big Lou tells the family that he has spoken with his mother (Grandma to the kids) and she wants to know why he hasn’t come out to see her. He really wants to go out there but there’s just one little problem. Lou doesn’t have a valid driver’s license. So it seems “someone” is going to have to drive him out to Fresno (which isn’t down the street). Everyone starts to come up with a way to get out of it. “I’ve got work“. “I don’t know if I’ll have the time.” My favorite excuse was from Dotsie who said, “I would take him to the front door.” lol. It’s a nice gesture tho if you think about it. In the end, it’s decided that Louis would get a paid vacation from work to drive Lou to see his mom in Fresno while Dotsie and Michel have a spa day. Sounds like everyone wins!! What could possibly go wrong!? …

The next day, Louis and Lou take off in Michel’s car for a 5 hour road trip to Fresno. As they are on the road, Lou starts telling Louis tales of his past and what kind of stories to expect to hear from his grandma. Because of his dad, Louis had a rough childhood. He wasn’t allowed to go to people’s houses to play and kids were afraid of him. Just as Lou tells his son he wouldn’t want to be in his life, the big shocker comes out. “I was arrested once,” announces Louis. Just as L0u asks for what, Louis explains it. “For selling drugs in High School.” OH EM GEE!! Before anyone says anything, let’s get real. This is 2012 not 1902. Granted it’s not a smart thing to do, it happens. I was in high school once so I know just like anybody else. However for Big Lou, it hurt him to hear that from his own son. Of course just like with any parent, they don’t want their kids in any kind of trouble so I could see how this news hurt Lou. It’s a lot to take in, especially not ever knowing about it prior. Along the way, Louis and his dad stop for food at a place called BURGER, which is just off the road somewhere. In between, he gets two calls from Joey (his boyfriend) about how he misses him and can’t wait til he gets back. Now, I love how they show is portraying this but WE NEED TO SEE MORE JOEY AND LOUIS TIME!! Just sayin.

However, the drama DOES NOT end there!! As Michel and Dotsie head to Le Petite Retreat Day Spa for some mother daughter time, things quickly change in the waiting room. A gentleman comes out to tell the ladies what’s on their menu today. “Massages, a chocolate facial and a hairless bikini wax,” says Ron, the man from the spa. Just as the wax part is announced, the look on Dotsie’s face is classic. She begins to explain that her daughter is controlling and now wants to control her “PEASH“, referring to her vajayjay. Apparently miss Dotsie is an all natural woman. She doesn’t want to go hairless!! The arguing doesn’t stop there tho. Next, the ladies step in for their sweet facials and it just continues. Dotsie’s masseuse asks her if the rag is too hot on her face and if she wants cold stones or cucumbers on her eyes. “You can ask my daughter,” Dotsie replies. This only makes Michel upset, as she pops up to say she’d rather be with her brother and dad on the way to Fresno instead of with her.
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, we come to the point where Louis and Lou arrive to Grandma’s House. Louis is a little curious of how things are going to go because he hasn’t seen her in a long time. As they walk in and greet the matriarch of Philly, they sit down outside to nice, yummy lunch. Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs, Garlic Bread and Salad. YUM!! As the conversation starts off about the past and Lou with his old ways, the topic comes up about what Lou is doing now for work. “He’s working in a gay bar,” shouts out Louis. With a face of shock, Grandma Verdi says, “He is?” She laughs it off and doesn’t seemed to be bothered by it. Big Lou isn’t happy and gets a little ticked his son had to say it the way he did. However, that’s the least of the news. The three move into the living room area where they discuss Louis’ life and where he’s headed in the future. Being a crafty kid, he decides to come out to his grandmother finally. “I like boys. I’m gay,” says the young Verdi. Louis makes it a point to want to let everyone know he’s open about his sexuality. In the picture above, you can see Grandma’s face. However, it ends better than it looks. Grandma Verdi opens up and says that, “Nobody’s gonna stop you. You’re over twenty-one. You can do what you want.” Her acceptance of her grandson doesn’t sit well with Lou, as he explains that he’s still not comfortable with it. Well, time to get on the ball Lou. Everyone else love Louis for who he is. It’s time YOU do the same!! No T No Shade, just sayin tho.
Things get wrapped up when we head back to Verdi manor to see that Michel comes home with Chinese for dinner. Yummy, my fave!! However, Jay walks out to prepare the table with food Dotsie apparently cooked without telling anyone. The arguing from the spa resumes when the three sit down to eat, as they both want Jay to eat their foods. Unaware of what happened earlier in the day, Jay asks how the spa went. The two ladies calmly but with a tone say that it was wonderful. Yeah, right. “What’s going on!?”, asks a stuff faced Jay. As Dotsie starts to explain the events of the day, Michel goes on the defensive, not wanting to talk about right then and just wanting to enjoy her dinner. “When is a good time? Should I schedule an appointment?”, asks Dotsie. Michel decides that she’s tired and gets up to leave the table. Later on, we see that Dotsie goes into Michel’s room to talk to her and repair the damage from the day. Expressing how she feels, both cry over how they are so much alike and carry the weight of so much on them. Things get all lovey again as Michel says, “I will never tell Dotsie what do to with her vagina EVER again!!” That is the best quote EVER!! In the end, we see Louis and his dad at some random “dive bar” in Fresno for a drink, after the day they’ve had. The two discuss how now everything is in the open to his grandmother and that it’s okay to accept it and move on. When I asked Louis on Twitter what bar it they’d went to, he said:
